With nearly three million residents, Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States. This diverse city is also home to numerous professional and amateur sports teams. Sports are an integral part of Chicago’s culture and it is no wonder that Chicago has consistently been ranked among the top fifteen sports cities in the world. Not only is the city home to the first Heisman Trophy winner, but there are also a variety of volunteer opportunities within the sports industry.

In addition to professional sports, Chicago also has a fervent sports events culture. The Windy City is home to several collegiate and professional sports teams, including the Chicago Bulls, who have been perennial powerhouses in the NBA for decades. The Blackhawks have also won two Stanley Cups in the past decade.
