With almost three million people, Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States. The city is known as the melting pot of America and is host to professional and amateur sports teams. Sports are a big part of Chicago’s culture and it has consistently been ranked among the world’s top fifteen sports cities. It is also home to the first Heisman Trophy winner, Jay Berwanger. There are also numerous volunteer opportunities in the sports industry in the city.
While the city’s sports teams dominate the headlines, there are many other outlets that cover the local scene. WGN Radio 720 covers local news, sports, business, and weather in the Chicago area. WGN reports street racers on the southwest side early Sunday. WGN’s sports coverage includes Cubs baseball and “Bozo’s Circus,” which are broadcast on WGN’s Chicago-based satellite.
While the Chicago Bears have had a terrible start to the season, the city still has a loyal fan base that goes to every game. Even the viral video of Jay Cutler’s jersey burning didn’t seem to deter fans. The games at Soldier Field are always sold out. The fans are incredibly loyal and passionate about their team.
