The race is on this election eve and it’s not just ballots being handed out at polling sites. Some election workers are getting panic buttons. CBS 2’s Marissa Perlman had more on the stepped-up security for the midterm election.

Sports Events Culture in Chicago

As the third largest city in the United States, Chicago has a diverse population of almost three million residents. This diverse city is known as a “melting pot” and is home to many professional and amateur sports teams. Sports are an important part of Chicago’s culture, and the city has consistently ranked among the top fifteen sports cities in the world. The city is also home to the first Heisman Trophy winner, Jay Berwanger, who played for the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The news is not always positive, however. The Chicago Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on the south side of the city’s Rogers Park. A white Jeep was involved in the incident. Several other victims were injured. The gunfire from the incident killed three people and seriously injured two others. A report published in the Sun-Times Wire revealed that the shooting took place in the 7000 block of North Greenview Avenue.

In addition to being an entertainment and news source, sports also have a positive impact on society. Major sporting events can promote local economies and inspire youth to become more active. They can also raise money for worthy causes.
