Chicago Sports Events Culture
As the third largest city in the U.S., Chicago is a celebrated melting pot. It is known as the “city in a garden” for its diversity, a fact that is reflected in its sports culture. The city has been voted Best Sports City by Sporting News three times and consistently makes the TSE International Ranking of Sport Cities. Chicago is also home to the first Heisman Trophy winner, Jay Berwanger.
Chicago is considered the “Sports Capital of the World,” and its cosmopolitan appeal has made it a hot spot for sports fans. The Chicago Bears have a loyal following, but haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1985. The Bulls, led by Michael ‘Air’ Jordan, dominated basketball in the 1990s. And while the Bears have faltered this year, the NHL’s Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup twice, in 2010 and 2013.
