Among Chicagoans, sports are a way of life. This is exemplified by the aforementioned Chicago Cubs minor league affiliates. In fact, this city has been dubbed the sports capital of the Midwest. As such, you’ll be hard pressed to find a Chicago resident who doesn’t enjoy a game of basketball, football or golf from time to time. In fact, this city has an impressive transportation infrastructure that has helped it become a sports destination in itself.
As such, there is a bevy of sports related companies in the city. Some of the better known names include the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Bears, the Bulls basketball franchise, the Blackhawks of the NHL and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. Not to be outdone, the city is home to numerous minor league affiliates of major league teams. The city has a plethora of parks that make for an ideal family day out. This list is certainly not exhaustive.
While the city does not boast an astronomical slew of professional sports teams, it does boast an impressive number of amateur sports teams. This is where the real perks of being a Chicago resident shine through. While there’s no denying that the city has its fair share of high-end sports venues, the city’s amateur sports organizations are also well financed and highly competitive. With a slew of notable studs in the city, it’s not hard to see why this city has made it to the top of the leagues.
