Sports Events Culture in Chicago

Putting aside the obvious question of what sports teams reside in the Windy City, there is no shortage of sports to be had, be they a collegiate, professional, or amateur endeavor. It isn’t surprising then, that the city is home to the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, the NHL’s Blackhawks, and a host of minor league teams to boot. Its top notch transportation infrastructure has also made it a destination in and of itself. Moreover, the city has a plethora of parks and public spaces that make for great family outings.

As a result, the city has earned a myriad of accolades. One of the most notable is the award for sports town of the year, bestowed upon it by Sporting News, the king of the sports pageants. Sports have also been good for the economy, generating a whopping $600 million per year for Illinois, making it the state’s wealthiest suburb. Its sports fans are a fervent lot. And, like most of us, they’re happy to take on each other. So, it’s no wonder that the city has earned itself a spot in the top ten most competitive cities in the country.

As for a winning team, the aforementioned Chicago Bulls have a storied history. The city also boasts a host of amateur and professional sports teams, each boasting a storied history of their own. While each has a different set of fans, it’s hard to deny that they all share a certain amount of camaraderie.
