Chicago News Sports Events Culture
Whether it’s the Chicago Cubs or the Chicago Bulls, the city’s sports culture is a true testament to the city’s residents. This is a city with a population of nearly three million, and the city’s sports teams are big business. The city has many sports franchises, but it is also home to amateur teams.
The Chicago Cubs are perhaps the most popular sports team in the city. The Cubs have racked up six World Series wins, but the Chicago Bulls have a few more championships to their credit.
The city’s sports culture has also been credited with generating millions of dollars for local charities. One such charity is the Festival of Hope, a global youth mentoring organization. The organization also boasts an award-winning mascot, the Star Reporter.
The best part is, a lot of these organizations also make good on their charity pledges. In fact, Chicago’s athletic department, in conjunction with Northwestern University, has a cool little program called Reach Out and Reinforce Respect (RORR). This program is a fun way for kids to learn about anti-bullying best practices. Hopefully, it will also encourage kids to play more sports.
Despite having a population of nearly three million, Chicago boasts a highly competitive sporting culture, and its citizens have a lot of passion for their teams. Some of the city’s best athletes have even gotten their names in lights, like former Bulls forward, Tim Howard. The city’s sports culture is one of the best in the country.
