Located in the heart of Illinois, Chicago is home to several notable sports teams. The Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Bears are just a few of the professional franchises based in the Windy City. These teams are responsible for generating millions in state tax revenues. This is a boon to the local economy.

Chicago also boasts a bevy of amateur sports teams, many of which have been around for decades. While some may be content to watch the Chicago Bears in their home turf, others have ventured out to the suburbs. The Chicago Bulls, on the other hand, play at the storied United Center, a venue for which you should probably make an effort to visit at least once in your lifetime.

A number of notable sporting achievements have been achieved by Chicagoans. The first recipient of the coveted Heisman trophy was Jay Berwanger. The city also hosted the CFL playoffs in the nascent days of pro football. The Chicago Bulls have won the NBA’s most prestigious trophy twice, and a number of notable athletes have made their marks in the pros.

The city also boasts the tallest tower in the country, and several notable museums and art galleries. In fact, Chicago is the largest city in the Midwest, and one of the largest in the United States. In addition to the sporting prowess of its many eponymous teams, the city also boasts the third largest population in the United States.
