In addition, the city is home to a number of notable amateur sports teams. Among them are the Chicago Cubs, a team of young guns in the National Basketball Association and the aforementioned Nerf football phenomenon.

The city is also home to a couple of lesser known sporting events such as the Maccabi Games and the Chicago Merchandise Fair. In the spirit of full disclosure, the latter has been subject to the ire of many a Chicago resident. In the grand scheme of things, however, it is the bigger leagues that deserve the most attention. The best way to learn about the city is to attend some of its more popular events.
