Sports Events Culture in Chicago

Located in the windy city, Chicago is home to numerous amateur sports teams. These include the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. While there are no professional basketball or hockey teams, the Bears and White Sox provide funding for high school athletic programs. The Cubs also sponsor the varsity teams of a number of area colleges and universities.

While the city has never claimed to be the capital of sports, there is no denying that it boasts the highest concentration of sports enthusiasts in the country. With that in mind, there are countless sporting events on tap, from the NHL to minor league baseball. Some of the more high profile sports events are subject to cancellation or postponement. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a whacking great time, you’ll be hard pressed to find a bad day in the Windy City. In fact, TSE has named Chicago a runner up for best sports town in the nation for the past two years.

While it’s not uncommon for a large metropolitan area like Chicago to brag about its sports prowess, the city does have its share of faux pas. In particular, residents voiced their displeasure about the Bally’s Casino project. As a result, the city has lost its best of breed tag to Los Angeles. That’s a bummer, considering that the Golden State Warriors are just a few blocks away. Fortunately, the city has a well-funded health care system and a healthy policing apparatus, meaning that crime is low in the Windy City.
