Sports Events Culture in the Windy City
Those who live in or have been to the windy city know that sports are a big part of the fabric of life. Chicago is home to two major professional sports teams, and is home to many minor league and amateur teams. It is one of only four American cities with teams in all five of the major professional sports.
There are many sports teams in the area, including the storied Blackhawks and Cubs. The NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup twice in the past three years.
The Chicago Cubs are the benefactors of an ongoing partnership with the White Sox, and a large part of the reason is funding for many athletic programs in the city. The Bears have won their share of championships and have hosted several Super Bowls in their heyday. Despite a lackluster start to the 2014 season, the Bears are a devoted fan base.
As for the best sports towns in the United States, the one that comes to mind is Cleveland. While not the city of dreams, it does have a storied sports culture and has won a couple of awards, including being ranked in TSE’s “international ranking of sport cities” every year since 2012.
On a more practical note, it is hard to beat a good ol’ fashioned bowling match. It’s also a good way to spend a Friday night, as well as a good way to get the kids out of the house.
