Modern sports have evolved as part of a larger globalization process, in which transnational corporations have sought to sell every kind of product to every reachable consumer. This has led to a more rapid pace of change, as competition between sports has intensified. The growth of the mass media has played a key role in the evolution of sports in the media.

The evolution of the sports culture in Chicago has reflected the city’s renaissance. It has earned several awards for its sports culture, including being listed as the Best Sports City in the World for two years in a row. These events have also contributed to the local economy, with 456,000 jobs created in Illinois last year alone. These events also help kids get active and raise awareness of important issues.
