The Chicago News Sports Events Culture
The Chicago news sports events culture has some serious cred. For example, this city was awarded the title of Best Sports city in the country, if not the world. In addition to this accolade, the city has hosted several marquee sporting events in the past. And hey, it’s no secret that the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks have been pretty good over the past decade or so.
However, the most impressive feat is how the city has remade itself. While some may argue the quality of life is at an all time low, the renaissance has not left the city behind. Its residents have been rewarded for their loyalty by being named the best sports town in the nation, a distinction which the Bears proudly hold. The city also boasts a strong tech industry, a burgeoning culinary scene and a booming film industry. All of these factors have contributed to a thriving cosmopolitan city. And the best part is, they have all been accompanied by a healthy dose of civic pride. The city is a great place to live, work and play. And it’s no surprise that the best sports town in the country should be home to the best sports fans in the land. For example, the Chicago Bears have a devoted fan base that’s second to none. And if you’re a hockey fan, the Blackhawks have two Stanley Cups to their credit.
But there’s more to this sports town than just good times. The city has also shown a willingness to be the first to try new ideas. For instance, in the spirit of collaboration, the Northwestern athletic department has started an anti-bullying campaign in conjunction with the university’s student-athletes. In fact, it’s the first such program in the state of Illinois. And while the name of the game is to be determined in the coming years, it’s easy to see that the City of Chicago is taking steps to re-engage its citizens in a way that makes for a more productive and enjoyable city.
