Sports fans of Chicago have long been a loyal bunch. Aside from being home to the Bears and Bulls, Chicago is also a mecca for the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks. In the midst of a renaissance, the city has garnered a number of accolades, including being crowned the best sports city in the country.

In terms of sheer fanatical fervor, the Cubs and Bears are in a league of their own. However, they are not the only ones to make the cut. The Blackhawks are no slouches. In 2010, the Chicago based dynasty won the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row. The Chicago Tribune has also been on a roll in the sports department. In fact, in 2013, the paper’s sports section made a list of the top 25 teams in the country.

It may be that the city’s recent sporting success is a mere harbinger of things to come. In fact, the city has been named the number one sports town for two years in a row. The next time you’re looking for a good time, be sure to check the Chicago venues and event schedules on their website before hitting the streets. This way, you can avoid disappointment if your plans fall through. The best part is, you can save a ton of cash.

Aside from the obvious reasons, the modern era has afforded sports fans a host of new opportunities. For example, the Chicago Tribune has made a concerted effort to bring the locals together through sports and entertainment.
