Sports Events Culture in Chicago
The city of Chicago is a sports fans paradise. Besides being home to the Cubs, Blackhawks, and Bulls, the city has produced several major sporting events in the past. It’s no secret that Chicago’s sports fanatics are a hard-core bunch. This is reflected in a number of awards the city has received in recent years. It’s also no surprise that Chicago is on the sports map if the leagues are counted in dollars. The sports business is a lucrative one. In 2010, Illinois earned $600 million in revenue from the industry. The city also boasts a high-paying job market and several institutions of higher learning.
Chicago sports fans have won a few trophies in the past, including a couple of Stanley Cups. In a recent survey, the city ranks sixth on a list of the top 10 sports cities in the country. This is a reflection of the city’s renaissance. Despite its tumultuous past, sports fans in the Windy City still bleed orange and blue. It is an impressive accomplishment to say the least.
Aside from the aforementioned trophies, the city also earned the honor of being the sports city of the world, a feat that harks back to the days when baseball was the national pastime. Not to mention the plethora of sports and entertainment venues in and around the city. So whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a place to live, Chicago’s sports culture is one you should definitely take note of.
