More than 200 dog breeds will show off their tricks and skills this weekend at the Great American Dog Show in Schaumburg. CBS 2 is the show’s official media partner. It is being held in the Chicago area for the first time since 2015.

It’s not surprising that Chicago is home to the NFL’s Chicago Bears, the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, and the NHL’s Laker hockey team. In fact, the sports juggernaut is such a potent force that the city has won the honor of being the number one sports city on the planet more than once. Indeed, Chicago has been dubbed the sport capital of the world, and sports have played a prominent role in the economic growth of the city, as well. For example, a major athletic league in the area partnered with Chicago’s biggest sports franchise in order to make sure a youngster’s off-season wouldn’t be filled with heartbreaking disappointment.

In addition to sporting events, the city boasts a number of cultural offerings, including museums, art galleries, and performing arts organizations, not to mention a few notable landmarks and architecture gems. So, if you’re in town for the weekend, why not make the most of your free time?

While you’re at it, snag a seat at a Chicago Cubs game, as well. The Cubs are the best sports team in the Midwest and they certainly know how to assemble a winning team. Aside from the actual games, the org also runs an extensive community outreach program, which serves to engage the locals in their own backyard. Plus, you get to see a number of the players up close and personal, which is always a plus.
