The Chicago Fire Department confirmed a 17-year-old boy suffered serious burn injuries and a 15-year-old girl suffered minor burns. A firefighter was also taken to a hospital with facial burns.
I'm Marisa Vedra and I'm Jim Williams we Thank you for joining us on television And our Digital streaming Network CBS News Chicago our top story two teenagers And a firefighter are in the hospital This morning after a house fire in Roseland CBS 2's SL resign spoke to one Of the victims that was inside when that Fire broke out Yeah you can see the house here behind Me and how badly it is damaged from that Fire some Crews still here remain on Scene cleaning up the aftermath in this Video you can see flames shooting out of The roof the fire very intense at one Point you can see firefighters had to Get above the fire in order to put it Out this is on edbrook near 114th place In Roseland we talked to the man that Has lived inside of this home for over 15 years he said he woke up to the smell Of smoke and what he believes was a fire That started in the basement he and his Wife were inside of the home along with Their two daughters and son and their Son's girlfriend listen to him telling Us this morning what it was like as he Was trying to get his family to safety I Think the house on fire and so he heard Me he came downstairs I guess he dropped His phone and tried to go back for his Home that's what made him turn back Around and go try to get his phone and I Guess the smoke caught him and kind of
Knocked them out because I was still Looking for him and I tried to go back In I couldn't see nothing the number Black smoke hope and I had to get up out Of there and that father telling us at One point he saw a small explosion Happening from inside of the house we're Told that one firefighter did suffer From first and second degree burns and Was taken to the hospital that man's son 17 years old also taken to the hospital For smoke inhalation and some Burns and That other victim his son's girlfriend Also taken to the hospital we're still Waiting to learn their conditions at This time reporting in Roseland to assal Reside CBS 2 News
