Chicago Sports Events Culture
Taking a step back, Chicago has a proud history of hosting large-scale sporting events that range from the ol’ fashioned to the posh to the petty. One of the most notable recent sports related triumphs was a two-squad Stanley Cup win by the Blackhawks. The most interesting part is that this isn’t the first time the city has taken the crown of sports capital of the world.
The city has a population of just under 2.4 million people, with about 80% of the population living in the metropolitan area. As such, the sheer number of sports fans is bound to keep the city’s stadiums hopping. Besides, sports have a way of uniting a city’s disparate splinter groups. It’s no wonder Chicago’s devoted fans have been named the best in the nation.
The city is home to several venerable sports franchises, not to mention the fact that sports abound in the surrounding suburbs. As a result, Chicago is home to many of the world’s most prestigious amateur sports teams. Moreover, the city has the distinction of being the location of several major sporting events, including the annual Chicago White Sox baseball tournament.
