Besides being one of the three largest cities in the United States, Chicago has one of the best sports cultures around. It is one of only four American cities with teams in all five major professional sports.
The city is also home to several minor league baseball and hockey teams. The storied Chicago Blackhawks are perhaps the most successful team in the NHL these days, but they’re not alone. The Chicago Cubs also make an appearance in the sports world of Chicago.
One of the more exciting aspects of the city’s sports culture is its diversity. Whether you’re a basketball aficionado or a baseball fanatic, you’re bound to find a team that fits your game plan. As a fan of both sports, I can attest that this is a truly unique city.
While the aforementioned aforementioned aforementioned aforementioned has a nice ring to it, I can’t say that I’m thrilled about the prospect of Bally’s casino getting the heave-ho. This is not to mention the fact that the city’s largest employer, Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), is on the proverbial ropes. In short, sports are a vital component of Chicago’s identity. Whether they’re the big daddy’s mascots or a small time minor league ball club, Chicagoans are not afraid to show their sportsman pride. In fact, the city’s most loyal sports fans are apt to name check their favorite players after a game.
