The city of Chicago is the third largest in the United States, with nearly 3 million residents. It has a diverse culture and is often called “a city in a garden.” People in Chicago love to play sports, making this city one of the top sports cities in the world. In fact, the city was once named “Best Sports City” by Sporting News and has made the TSE International Ranking of Sport Cities every year since 2012. Many sports organizations have their headquarters in Chicago, and there are numerous volunteer opportunities to be involved with the city’s sport community.
Chicago has a storied history of sports. The city is home to the NFL’s Chicago Bears, who last won the Super Bowl in 1985. While the Bears have faltered this season, the Bulls dominated the NBA during the 90s with star Michael ‘Air’ Jordan. The Blackhawks are also a major force in professional hockey, with two Stanley Cups to their name.
