Besides the big leagues, Chicago boasts a plethora of professional and amateur sports teams. From minor league baseball to boys’ lacrosse, there is something for everyone. Despite the brashness of many sports fans, Chicago is still a family friendly city. This is aided in no small part by the Bears, a professional sports franchise whose name is synonymous with family fun. The team has a dedicated website for fans to check out and join.

While the city does not have a particularly rich cultural history, it has managed to make its mark on the sporting scene. In the past decade, the city has played host to a number of major sports events including the NFL’s Chicago Bears, and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. Aside from sports, the city has an extensive arts and entertainment district, home to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and the Loop Theatre. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for residents is the prospect of Bally’s new casino slated for the not so distant future. This is a particularly thorny issue, considering the state of the state, and the fact that the city is on the cusp of becoming the next big thing in the sports world. Thankfully, the city has a number of savvy, sports-loving politicians to lean on, resulting in a healthier public goodwill towards the big and small fry. Hopefully, this trend will continue. In the long run, the city’s sports culture will be a hit amongst Chicagoans of all ages and persuasions.
