They also fund numerous youth athletic programs, including a variety of Nerf football programs for local high schoolers.

The sports community in Chicago has been the recipient of several awards, including TSE’s yearly rankings of the world’s best sports towns and cities. In 2012, it made TSE’s coveted list for the second year in a row. In addition, the city has earned a spot on the list of top ten best sports towns in the United States for the third year in a row.

Not only does the sports community have a lot of fun, they also have a positive effect on the local economy. In 2010, the city’s sports scene created more than $340 million in new revenues for the area’s businesses and industries. In addition, the sports industry spawned more than 456,000 jobs, bringing the area’s total employment count to more than 1.7 million.

While the city’s sports community hasn’t always been a shining star, it has seen several high-profile sports successes and high-profile losses. For example, the Chicago Bears haven’t won a Super Bowl in 30 years, but the team’s last big win was in 1985.
