In addition to their prowess on the ice, the Blackhawks also provide funding for their numerous athletic programs.
The big picture is that sports have a positive effect on local economies. According to Forbes, sports generated a whopping 456,000 jobs in 2013. This was not an easy feat, since many of the larger events are subject to cancellation. In short, it is no wonder that a number of the world’s top sporting contests are held in this cosmopolitan city.
The most impressive feat is the fact that in recent years, Chicago has become one of the top sport cities in the country. The aforementioned TSE has named Chicago the best sports town in the country three times in a row.
