The Windy City and Its Sports Events Culture
Chicago is a big time sports town. Two of the world’s premier sports franchises call the Windy City home, including the Bears and White Sox. The best part is you don’t have to leave the city to get in on the action. Likewise, the state of Illinois has been blessed with a host of other entertainment venues, ranging from live theatre to golf courses to bowling alleys. The city has won the coveted crown as the best sports city in the nation at least twice. Moreover, it has spawned a thriving tourism industry. In fact, a recent study found that the Chicago area is the second most visited tourist destination in the nation, a claim supported by a large influx of foreign tourists. This bodes well for businesses looking to make their mark in the region. It also gives the city an incentive to improve its game. As a bonus, its inhabitants have been known to have a healthy dose of pixie dust.
Considering the state of play, it’s not surprising that Chicago has won the coveted title of Best Sporting Capital of the United States at least two times over. This has arguably been the reason for the renaissance of the Chicago region. Indeed, sports and sports related tourism are no longer mutually exclusive as the Chicago area has grown to accommodate the needs of an ever increasing number of visitors.
