Sports Events Culture in Chicago

Whether it is the Chicago Bears, Cubs or Blackhawks, there are plenty of sports events to choose from. And, in terms of sheer quantity, Chicago is one of the best cities in which to catch a game.

The city has a population of nearly 3 million. This means that there are plenty of people to cheer on your favorite team. In fact, fans are so devoted that even a minor mishap involving a jersey burning did not deter attendance. The city is also home to some of the biggest sporting events on Earth, including the NFL playoffs and CFL playoffs.

The city has an active sports culture that has landed the quaint little town in TSE’s annual international ranking of sport towns. Indeed, in 2010, the city accounted for the largest number of sports-related jobs in the nation. A good example of this is the fact that the Chicago White Sox fund athletic programs in other parts of the state. It is not uncommon for Chicagoans to attend as many as nine games a season.

In addition to the team’s regular games, the Bears have partnered with the Chicago White Sox and the Cubs to help raise money for worthy causes. In particular, the team has helped fund programs to help prepare kids for high school football.

The city is also home to a number of noteworthy amateur sports teams. Among them, the Chicago Bulls dominated basketball in the 90s, the aforementioned Blackhawks have been the kings of their respective leagues in the past few years, and the Chicago Cubs provide a major boost to the Illinois economy.
