Sports Events Culture in Chicago
Besides its storied NBA and NHL franchises, Chicago also happens to be home to an array of amateur sports teams. Some have even made it to the big time.
Sports can be fun and engaging, while also helping to create a healthier, more vibrant community. Whether you’re a fan of baseball, football, or hockey, there’s a team for you. Some even have their own stadiums, which can be a boon to the local economy. In fact, according to the National Sporting Events Foundation, sports boost the economy by over $340 million in 2010.
Aside from the obvious games and sports, there are also plenty of museums, restaurants, and hotels in the Loop to keep you entertained for years to come. The city has been named a sports town in its own right. It has been included in the TSE’s list of the world’s best sports towns for two years in a row.
There’s plenty of fun to be had in the Windy City, and it’s one of the reasons why Chicago is a popular vacation destination. It’s also home to the best sports fans around. Some even call it the city that plays.
While the Chicago Bears may be a bit underachieving this season, there are plenty of other teams to choose from. As a matter of fact, Chicago has one of the best sports fan populations in the country, with nearly 3 million fans. It’s no surprise then that the city has received several awards, and is a frequent stop on the annual MLB Tour.
