Whether you’re a Chicago native or a a Chicago transplant, you can’t argue with the fact that sports are a big part of the city’s culture. The city is home to four professional teams in five major professional sports: the NFL’s Bears, the NBA’s Bulls, MLB’s Cubs, and the NHL’s Blackhawks. As a result, fans can expect to see plenty of high-stakes action.
As it turns out, the most successful sports teams in the city aren’t the ones in the big leagues. It’s all in the fan base. The most diehard fans are the ones that have been a part of the team since the franchise was born. For example, the Chicago White Sox have had an ongoing partnership with the Bears.
As a matter of fact, sports do a lot of good for the city’s economy. In 2010, they pumped $340 million into the local economy, creating 456,000 jobs in the process. The best part is that they’re not just for the rich and famous. Many of the games are free or a fraction of the cost, and even young kids are enthralled by the spectacle.
The fact is, it’s hard to deny that Chicago is one of the best cities to live in, especially when it comes to sports. The city is full of fans who are devoted to their teams. In fact, the city is often referred to as the nation’s sports capital. In fact, it’s one of the only places in the country that has both a professional hockey team and an NFL team.
