Considering the city’s close proximity to other sports behemoths like NFL and NBA, it’s no wonder that the sports scene is on the rise. In the past few years, Chicago has been host to a bevy of amateur sports teams including minor league baseball, ice hockey and basketball. On the professional front, Chicago is home to the storied defending champion Blackhawks NHL franchise and a plethora of MLB and NCAA teams. In addition to the aforementioned sports, the city is home to a slew of upscale restaurants, shops and spas, and a plethora of breweries. Indeed, the city is the gastronomic capital of the state. There are several major hotels in the downtown area, a couple of upscale golf courses and a number of other venues to occupy the evenings. During the day, the city has a brisk walkable temperature and is known for its pedestrian friendly streets and low crime rate.
