Besides its cosmopolitan locale, the Windy City is home to a plethora of notable sports teams, most notably the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. In 2010 the hawks made two Stanley Cups, a feat that took place in a comparatively short period of time.
In fact, the Blackhawks and their fans are so devoted that in the early 2000s, the team was dubbed the best sports town in the country. With a population of over 2 million people, the Chicago area is one of the largest metropolises in the country. Among the most populated cities in the United States, it is also the most ethnically diverse. The influx of immigrants has led to an explosion in diversity and an increase in the number of languages spoken. This is best exemplified by the large influx of Latinos and Jewish immigrants. The resulting mashup is a perfect fit for the burgeoning aficionados of the local ilk.
The city is also home to numerous notable attractions, as well as a slew of aforementioned sports teams. The city is not a short hop from Chicago O’Hare International Airport, which serves as the gateway to the windy city and is the busiest in the nation.
