Sports Events Culture in Chicago

Whether it’s baseball, hockey or basketball, Chicago is home to a slew of sporting events, including the NHL’s storied Blackhawks. The city is also home to a host of minor league baseball teams, a slew of sports bars and a handful of posh night clubs. But it’s the sports industry that keeps the Windy City on its toes. As the king of the sports hubs, Chicago is the go-to destination for a good time. In 2013, the sports industry created 456,000 jobs. That’s one per every four residents of the city. The sports biz generates about $600 million in revenue each year, a tidy sum to be sure.

The city also boasts some of the country’s best sports hotels, such as the Hyatt Regency – Lakefront. And while it may be the smallest state in the union, it is nonetheless home to the largest number of sports enthusiasts per capita. In fact, Chicago is home to the world’s highest concentration of sports enthusiasts. It is no secret that the sports crowd is a loyal bunch. The best part is, they are not shy about letting you know it. After all, sports have never failed to bring fans together. On Halloween, Boston Bruins visited local children’s hospitals.
