Located in the Windy City, Chicago is the third largest metropolis in the United States. It’s home to more than 3 million people, including the likes of the Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls and White Sox. It’s one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the country. It has been crowned the sports capital of the Midwest and the sports capital of the United States. It’s also one of four cities in the country with teams in all five major professional sports. In addition to its many sporting events, it’s also home to some of the best restaurants in the country. And while the Bears haven’t been the best in recent memory, they’re still the kings of the Chicago sports town.
The best part of Chicago sports culture is the community it inspires. It’s a melting pot of sorts, with a large Latino population, and a lot of the city’s cultural diversity is infused into the local athletic scene. This is evident in the numerous amateur and professional sports clubs that have been around for years, and the dozens of sports-themed restaurants and bars.
In fact, the Cubs are responsible for an estimated $600 million in annual economic activity in Illinois. The team also funds several programs designed to get kids more active, and helps provide funding for its athletes. While it’s not a jumbo sized stadium, Soldier Field is still one of the best places to watch a game in town.
