The Windy City and Its Sports Events Culture

Besides the Cubs and White Sox, Chicago is home to a host of amateur sports teams. In fact, Chicago is one of the four US cities with a team in all five of the major professional sports.

Some of the bigger games are held in the Windy City, including the NBA playoffs, the NFL playoffs, and the MLB All-Star Game. The city is also home to the largest sports fan base in the country. This, along with the fact that Chicago is the third most populous city in the U.S., makes it a great place to live and play.

It is no surprise then that the city is on TSE’s list of the world’s best sports towns. With a population of just over three million, Chicago is a pretty good size for a sports city. Those who have been to the windy city know that the city is a true melting pot. The city is known for its plethora of ethnic groups and neighborhoods. With the likes of the Loop, West Loop, South Loop, and Gold Coast neighborhoods, Chicago is an active city for a reason.

The city is also home to numerous awards and trophies for its sporting achievements. In fact, in 2012, the city was named the best sports town in the world. This award, dubbed the TSE trophy, is presented to the city every two years. This accolade is not only due to the aforementioned recognition, but it is largely attributed to the city’s sporting achievements.
