With nearly 3 million residents, Chicago is the third largest city in the U.S., and is known as a “melting pot” and “city in a garden.” The city has always enjoyed its reputation as a sporting destination, and has been named the “Best Sports City” by Sporting News three times. In fact, Chicago has been ranked among the top 15 sport cities in the world since 2012, and is home to the first Heisman Trophy recipient in history. There are many opportunities to volunteer and get involved in the sports scene in Chicago.

While Chicago has a thriving sports scene, the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls have faltered in recent years. However, their fans are devoted and passionate about their teams. Chicago’s Bulls team dominated the NBA during the 1990s, led by Michael ‘Air’ Jordan, and the Chicago Blackhawks have won the NHL’s Stanley Cup twice.
