Sports Events Culture in the Windy City

Among the ten or so municipalities that comprise the Windy City, sports fans have a number of options when it comes to the game of pucks and pucks. A few minor league baseball teams call the Windy City home as well as the storied Chicago Blackhawks NHL franchise. The Cubs and White Sox have forged several longstanding partnerships. Aside from the traditional gridiron fare, the city is home to a variety of amateur sports teams.

A quick survey of the sandbox revealed that a number of locals were a bit skeptical of Bally’s casino-centric endeavors. The good news is that while a casino may be the next best thing to have in Chicago, the city has its own credentialed sporting organizations. One of the most noteworthy of these is the Maccabi Games, which lays claim to the longest and most successful championship ice hockey series in the country. As a testament to its commitment to sports, the city also hosted the World Series in 2009. In addition to sports, the city has several museums and other cultural institutions to keep residents occupied in the absence of pucks.

There is no denying that Chicago is one of the nation’s most populous cities, which makes it a sports hotspot. The city is home to the most sports fans per capita, a fact that has garnered its aforementioned sexiest mugs a prize. As a testament to the city’s sports savvy, the Cubs made the list of the top 10 American professional baseball teams by virtue of their record setting win in the World Series.
