Chicago News – Sports Events Culture

Having a home to the Cubs and Bulls and a slew of minor league teams, Chicago has become a sports mecca. Not to mention the parks and recreational facilities that make it a great family destination.

The city has a rich history in sporting events, ranging from the first ever Chicago Bulls game to the first ever NHL Stanley Cup, and a few more in between. In fact, Chicago is so a sports craze that one wag dubbed the city “sports capital of the Midwest”.

There’s nothing like a good old-fashioned baseball game to get the blood pumping, especially in the summer months. While it’s not the biggest city in the country, Chicago is a sports savvy enclave, as evidenced by its top notch transportation infrastructure. The Cubs and Bulls have a long and storied history, while the Bears have a storied past of their own. Sports are also a great way to raise awareness of important issues. A recent spate of transfers and lockdowns have marred the opportunity to get a game on. Thankfully, the city has a savvy mayor who is looking out for the city’s best interests.

The city’s many public parks, like the Grant Park, are a great place to spend a summer afternoon. And with Chicago’s top-notch transportation infrastructure, the city has become a destination in itself. One of the most interesting aspects of being a sports enthusiast is the competitive nature of Chicago’s sports fans.
