Among the many things Chicago is known for, the sports scene has to be at the top of the list. Not only is the city home to numerous professional teams, it is also the site of one of the largest amateur sports leagues in the nation. In fact, there are over 60 amateur sports leagues in the metro area alone. It is not uncommon to see local scouts and athletes tearing up the turf in front of a national television audience. As such, the sport has had its fair share of scandals and highs, most notably the death of Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan. Nonetheless, the city has managed to turn a new leaf in the past few years and is today considered one of the best places to live in the country.

For instance, the city is home to the Jane Byrne Interchange, an ambitious redevelopment project. The fact that it is located in the heart of downtown Chicago makes it a desirable destination in and of itself. This, coupled with the many sports related events and attractions, means that the city is a fun place to spend the day, especially in the summertime. The other notable names in the sporting fraternity include the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, the Illinois Pacers and the Chicago White Sox.
