There is a reason that the city of Chicago has been ranked the best sporting city in the world. From the NFL to the NHL to the Clevedon Cup, the city is home to a host of sports franchises and a multitude of venues to match. Some of these include the Bears, Cubs, and White Sox to name a few.
Sports have also been the recipient of a plethora of awards and accolades. The city has been named the Sports Capital of the United States more times than we can count, and the Bears have made the playoffs three out of the last four seasons. It’s not surprising that the city has been named as a contender in the best of times bracket since the start of the decade. In fact, the city has been cited in the latest edition of USA Today’s annual rankings as the best place to play a game. This isn’t to say that the Cubs, Bears, and White Sox aren’t putting their money where their mouth is. After all, these organizations have the financial wherewithal to fund numerous sports programs at the highest level. Aside from the big dogs, the city is awash in youth sports academies, leagues, tournaments, and scrimmages.
The aforementioned aforementioned city has an impressive list of achievements in the athletic department, including the largest and most competitive NCAA college basketball league, as well as the world’s largest college football conference. But the city’s sports culture hasn’t always been a slam dunk. As of late, it’s been a bit of a rough patch, but a city with a winning team and a slew of high quality venues should be able to rebound in no time.
