Volunteering in Chicago’s Sports Events Culture
The city of Chicago, Illinois is home to nearly three million people, making it the third largest city in the United States. It has been dubbed a melting pot and “city in a garden,” and it is also known as one of the world’s best sports cities. It has been ranked as one of the top 15 sport cities three times by Sporting News, and has hosted a number of world-class sporting events. There are many volunteer opportunities to be involved in the city’s sport culture, including volunteering for the city’s sports commission.
Chicago fans are fervent when it comes to their team. Although the Bears started the season terribly and have already lost four of five games at home, they have managed to draw a big crowd. The week before the game, a video showing a Jay Cutler jersey being burned on YouTube went viral, but this didn’t seem to deter fans from attending the game. Soldier Field is always sold out and the fans are fiercely loyal to their team.
