Sports Events and Culture in Chicago

Located in the heart of the Windy City, Chicago is home to a number of major sporting events. Not only are they entertaining, they are also a boon to the local economy.

It’s no secret that the Chicago Bears have been losing their way lately. However, the Bears haven’t won a Super Bowl in more than two decades and haven’t exactly made the playoffs since the early nineties. Nevertheless, the team has managed to secure a couple of Stanley Cups in the last few years.

The best part about the Chicago sporting scene is that most of the time, you can watch the action live on your television screen. Aside from the usual suspects, there are also a number of amateur sports teams to choose from. The Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the more successful teams in the NHL since their inception in 1967.

Chicago may be a city in the Great Lakes, but it is still a cosmopolitan hotbed for sports and culture. For instance, the city is home to the Museum of Science and Industry, the largest museum of its kind in the country. It also has an enviable concentration of women in professional sports, with the third-most women in sports tally in the United States.

The city also happens to be the location of the Chicago Cubs, the largest baseball franchise in the country. It’s no surprise that the aforementioned occupants would be in the know when it comes to sporting events, but despite the fact that the Cubs aren’t in the playoffs, fans are still loyal to the green and gold.
