Not only do sports bring fans together, they can also make the world a better place. For example, there are many charitable causes that sports can help fund. In addition, they can boost local economies. Aside from the obvious, sports are also a great way to get kids active.

Some of the most famous sporting events in the world take place in the Windy City, including the Super Bowl, the World Series, and the NBA playoffs. Even though the Bears are currently 0-3-1, they have still managed to generate plenty of fan interest, albeit sporadically. The team also has a storied NHL franchise, as well as a minor league baseball team and some of the best live music venues in the nation.

Not to be outdone, the Cubs are another Chicago sports team that is worthy of a mention. The Chicago Cubs is one of the most beloved franchises in baseball, generating $600 million in annual revenue for the state of Illinois. They also provide funding for numerous athletic programs, such as junior Bears.

For instance, the Reach Out and Reinforce Respect (RORR) program is a worthy contribution to the community. The program, which was started by the Northwestern athletic department, is a student-led anti-bullying initiative.
