Whether you’re a Chicago sports buff or an armchair quarterback in the Windy City, there’s no doubt you’re in the company of the best and the brightest. The city is home to a variety of sports teams, including the storied Chicago Blackhawks and their respective minor league affiliates. Besides the aforementioned sports franchises, there are also a slew of collegiate and professional teams, such as the Illinois State University Bengals, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago Bears, among others.

The Chicago metro area is a rabid fan of football, hockey and basketball, but sports enthusiasts have a penchant for other sports as well. In fact, the city has more than a few high-level sports competitions, including the AFC Championship game, the Big Ten Conference championship game and the College Football Playoffs. The most obvious reason for this is that the Big Ten is the most prestigious conference in the country, and boasts some of the best teams in the sport. The city also has a high concentration of sports enthusiasts, a feat aided by a plethora of parks and green spaces, and a robust public transit system. In addition to the sporting events and venues mentioned above, Chicago is home to a number of notable attractions, including the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, the Chicagoland Exhibition and Research Center, and the Chicagoland Performing Arts Center. Moreover, Chicago is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the U.S., with more than six million people living in the city proper.
