Sports Events Culture in Chicago

Whether it’s basketball, soccer, hockey, football or tennis, Chicago has something for everyone. Despite its recent struggles, it’s still a top-notch sports town. It’s also one of four cities in the United States that have teams in all five of the major professional sports. The city’s athletic community has received a slew of awards over the years, including the title of “Most Competitive City” in the 2014 American City Awards.

The city’s sporting culture is a testament to the city’s renaissance. It has a storied hockey franchise, which has produced several NHL greats in recent years. In 2010, the team earned the Stanley Cup, making them one of the more successful teams in the league. In addition to hockey, the Chicago Cubs provide funding for a number of youth athletic programs. The Cubs generate over $600 million per year for Illinois.

The city’s foxy sports culture is worthy of a few awards of its own. In fact, in 2013, the city was named as one of the world’s best sporting towns in TSE’s annual ranking of the world’s best places to play. It’s no surprise that the city is known for its fanatical fans. In addition to the hockey team, the city is home to the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs and a number of minor league baseball teams. It’s also home to a plethora of collegiate and amateur sports teams, some of which have made it onto the national stage.
