Sports Events Culture in Chicago
Whether it’s the Chicago Cubs or the Chicago Bears, sports and entertainment are big business in the Windy City. The city has one of the highest concentrations of sports enthusiasts in the country, and it’s no surprise.
The city has a storied hockey franchise in the Chicago Blackhawks, and an MLB team in the Chicago Cubs. It’s also home to a plethora of amateur sports teams, and has hosted several major sporting events, including the aforementioned CFL playoffs and the NBA playoffs.
The best part is that these sports are a blast to watch. The Chicago Blackhawks are especially entertaining, and have been winning their share of the Stanley Cup since 2010. The Chicago Cubs are a big draw, too, generating around $600 million in revenue each year. The city also has a slew of minor league baseball teams, many of which are affiliated with the Chicago White Sox.
Chicago’s sports culture is a worthy recipient of many a cool award. The city has a slew of notable awards, such as the aforementioned TSE award, the best sports town in the country, and the aforementioned Sporting News award.
In addition to the major sporting events, the city hosts a slew of amateur sports teams, some of which have been around for decades. While the Chicago Bears have yet to win a Super Bowl, they have shown the ability to pull off the big time in recent years.
The city has also made the TSE’s best sports town in the country list for two years in a row. It’s also one of only four American cities with teams in all five major professional sports.
