Chicago News – A Thriving Sports Events Culture
Despite the recent woes of the Chicago Bears, there’s no doubt that the city has a thriving sports culture. From the storied Chicago Blackhawks franchise in the NHL to minor league baseball teams such as the Chicago Cubs, the city has no shortage of sporting events. The city has also been recognized for its sports related achievements, such as its inclusion in TSE’s prestigious list of the world’s best sports towns for two years in a row.
In fact, the city of Chicago has a thriving sports culture that has earned it a number of awards and accolades. This is a particularly impressive feat in a city that is home to more than three million people. Some of the city’s illustrious sports teams have been around for decades, while others are fairly new, such as the Chicago White Sox, which began playing in the American League in 2004. As a result, the city has the highest concentration of sports enthusiasts in the country.
The city also boasts an impressive list of accolades for the athletic department of Northwestern University, including the first ever award for the “Melodo-Men-Meri-Mote-Miser” (a new type of trophy awarded to the most talented and deserving student athlete in the school’s sports program) and the “Motif oscar” (a gold star awarded to the student athlete whose accomplishments best the school’s overall athletic achievements).
The city has a number of notable sports-related accomplishments, notably its inclusion in TSE’s prestigious “World’s Best Sport Towns” list for two years in a row. As a result, the city has become a beacon of sporting excellence in the Midwest, while its sports teams generate billions of dollars in annual revenues for the state of Illinois.
