Considering Chicago has a population of nearly three million people, it’s not surprising that sports is a big deal. From minor league baseball to major league football to the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL, the Windy City is home to a number of sporting teams. Some of the most successful and storied franchises in the game have been around since the early 1900s. The city also boasts a plethora of parks and greenspaces suitable for the family outing of the year.

While it’s no secret that Chicago is one of the most affluent cities in the nation, sports still remains an integral part of the local culture. The city’s sports mecca is the home of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Blackhawks, three of the four professional sports teams in the Windy City. The city also boasts several minor league affiliates of these four teams.

There are several things to look for when picking a city to call home, but no city has quite as many sports teams as Chicago does. While the city hasn’t been crowned champion of the world in a sporting contest, it has had a few notable triumphs over the years. For example, in 2012, Chicago was named as the best sporting town in the country. The city’s storied perks include an excellent transportation network, a well-appointed parks and greenspaces, and a plethora of sporting activities. As a result, the city has become one of the most desirable places to call home.
