With almost 3 million people, Chicago is one of the largest cities in the country. It is known as a melting pot, a “city in a garden,” and a city that loves sports. In fact, the city has three times been named one of the best sports cities in the world, and has hosted dozens of NCAA championships, All-Star Games, and other high-profile sporting events. For those interested in becoming involved in sports, Chicago has a number of volunteer opportunities through the Chicago Sports Commission.
Chicago is also home to the Bears, a team with an infamously intense sports fan base. This year’s Bears have struggled mightily to start the season, but this hasn’t stopped fans from showing up to a game at Soldier Field. A video of Jay Cutler’s jersey burning a week before the game sparked controversy, but that didn’t seem to have a lasting impact on attendance. As long as the Bears are playing well, Soldier Field is always sold out and the fans are passionate about their team.
