Despite its diminutive size, the Windy City boasts a plethora of sporting activities and events. The aforementioned Blackhawks are among the league’s most storied franchises, and are accompanied by a slew of minor league baseball teams. There is also a small army of sports fans that are not afraid to show up to the big game.
Fortunately for the city’s sports fanatics, the almighty Cubs and the Bears are both more than willing to pony up for a bit of philanthropy. In addition to the aforementioned baseball team, the Cubs are known for sponsoring youth athletic programs, as well as supporting several of the city’s major college basketball teams. The best part is that it’s all done in the name of sport. In fact, the city’s nickname is the “Magic City.” During this period, the locals have been known to snag a few of the biggest prizes in the annals of amateur sports.
The most important thing to know is that Chicago’s best bets aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, the city has scored a top spot in TSE’s list of the world’s top sports towns for two years in a row. Aside from the aforementioned big dogs, the Windy City has been a sports fans dream, with a host of amateur and professional teams to choose from. That is, if you can get past the bally-ma-jibs and booze. The best part is that you can find a game or two to watch with just the right kind of beer in hand.
