Violent robberies keep happening in spurts and sprees in Chicago, but no arrests

The robberies have been happening on the city’s North, Northwest, and West sides. We have been tracking the crime trend closely for weeks. CBS 2’s Tara Molina reports.

Besides the Cubs and White Sox, Chicago is home to a plethora of sports teams and events. The city is also home to one of the largest concentrations of sports fans in the country. And of course, there’s always the occasional major event to contend with.

Some of the more notable sporting events include the ATP World Tour, a slew of minor league baseball teams, and the NFL’s annual preseason football game. For the diehards, there’s also the dreaded AFC championship playoffs, and the NBA playoffs. And, of course, the storied Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. The city is even home to a few burgeoning professional sports teams, and some notable amateur ones, as well. In addition to the aforementioned sports, Chicago is also home to several universities and colleges, a number of which have their own varsity teams. And, of course, it’s also home to some of the city’s best food and drink.

In fact, the city is home to one of the world’s best sports fans, and the resulting combination has yielded some of the best sporting events of any city in the country. Despite some negative press surrounding the Bally’s casino project, there’s plenty to enjoy in the Windy City. As a bonus, the city is a thriving cultural center, with several museums and a slew of arts and entertainment options. Moreover, the aforementioned renaissance of the city is a good omen for the region’s economy, which is currently undergoing a growth spurt.
